3HO Live to Give Program
"Simran will shape your consciousness, it will raise you to be more aware. It will widen your horizon and you will see better, you will see more. Then what will you do? You’ll serve—Seva. As you go to the top of the mountain, somehow you reach it and you see the beauty around and you want to share. A man cannot be without sharing himself."
Yogi Bhajan, “Simran and Seva,” Beads of Truth, Summer 1975
When we practice Kundalini Yoga, we begin to tap into our total human potential. The question arises: "What do I do with all this energy and creativity?" To live in a truly elevated state of consciousness, the answer is simple:
- Use that energy and creativity on behalf of others.
- Give without asking.
- Serve without reward.
- Uplift and inspire those who are in need.
- Take the cosmic power of the Kundalini and become a Divine channel to serve others.
Live to Give
3HO’s Live to Give Grant Program is one way we can acknowledge and give back to those serving and uplifting humanity through the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. In the past 2 years 3HO—in conjunction with YOGI Products and the Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation—has awarded grants totaling $23,000, as well as free passes to Summer Solstice Sadhana and other gifts and promotional opportunities to twelve non-profit seva organizations.
- Grants are awarded to service projects that help to elevate and inspire those in need.
- Each year we call for videos showcasing service projects based on Kundalini Yoga technology and lifestyle.
- After the voting period ends, several projects are chosen to receive grants and other gifts.
In addition, the video clips serve to inspire us all to elevate others through service. They are ALL winners, making a difference, changing the world through conscious service from the heart.

Yogi Bhajan on Seva
“Seva or service is infinite giving. Service is not finite giving. If you do some service and say, 'I served,' then you have totally missed the point. Service is when you feel honored by doing something. You don't feel honor in the company of many. You feel it within your own self. That is service. Seva is when your inside is honored, when you honor yourself. When I am honored in my consciousness for doing something, it is seva. When I stand before my consciousness, I feel good, and I say, ‘Well, I am so blessed that I could do it.’ That's seva.”
–Yogi Bhajan, 7/22/78
The tradition of selfless service is called “seva.” Seva can take many forms. It can take on the form of Karma Yoga, where we clean a common sacred space, or cook food for others. Seva can be talking with someone who needs support—listening and allowing your presence to uplift and inspire. The common denominator is that the focus is on someone or something outside of yourself. It is a service that needs nothing in return, not even acknowledgement.
“We have to become reservoirs of energy. Our words, our sight, our presence should be in a position to change the frequency of a person who needs the jump-start. Do it with words, with touch, with sight and with prayer. It’s the same thing. It doesn’t matter what condition you are in. But it does matter how precise and clear you are to lift up the other person.”
–Yogi Bhajan, 6/22/01
